Enjoy Raleigh's great year round outdoor living by dressing up your backyard...

Raleigh is known for it's year round mild weather so sprucing up your backyard is a great way to get the most enjoyment from the outdoors.  You work hard all day so why not make your backyard a
"stay-home-getaway" where you can put your feet up and just relax without leaving home.
HGTV has some great photos that I'm going to share with you to get you inspired.
Have fun in your own backyard.

Dreamy Decks and Patios from HGTV

Browse these inspired outdoor gathering spots and gather ideas for your own backyard.

Adaptable Deck

This versatile outdoor space offers three different types of entertaining areas, depending on the weather: a gathering spot around the fire pit, a deck for sunny afternoons and an enclosed gazebo. Designed by Robert Hursthouse

Accommodating the Terrain

Private Playspace

Whether it's for roasting marshmallows with the kids or grown-up entertaining, the fireplace often becomes the outdoor gathering spot for the family. A new retaining wall on the steep slope provided the terrain for this patio and new lawn. A berm of cryptomeria trees will provide privacy from the neighbors. Designed by landscape architect Mark Schisler.

No Blowing in the Wind

Sheltered from wind yet open to the garden, this semi-enclosed space, designed by Dan Berger, offers protection for outdoor diners.

Western Outdoors

An extra-large fountain and a Western-style fireplace are the focal points of this patio; the design and materials create a seamless extension of living space for the home. Design by Scott Cohen.

Creekside Retreat

Designed by Dan Berger, this timber pergola provides a restful oasis beside a creek. Rock walls and plants help define the space.

Designed Around an Oven

The focal point of this new outdoor kitchen is a wood-fired pizza oven imported from Italy. The 36\" oven turned out to have a 52\" base, so landscape architect Mark Schisler had to move the counters three feet to accommodate it. The oven is covered with a stone veneer, rather than real stone, to save more space.

Bring Them On

Built by designer Shane LeBlanc, this open-air cabana is the headquarters for outdoor grilling and dining for a large family. The hardscaping project also included a super-sized pool and bleachers for an existing basketball court. The kitchen countertop was custom-made on site and hand-colored to replicate real stone.

Enchanted Landscape

Here, landscape designer Gelinda Backman was charged by the homeowners with the task of incorporating \"enchanted\" and \"ancient\" aspects into the makeover of a wooded backyard. A dining terrace and fire pit surrounded by stone walls are focal points of a landscape that also includes a rain garden, winding pathways and a koi pond.

Water Park, Take 2

This large home came with a code-violating, half-finished water park in the backyard. Landscape designer Derrick Meek demolished the eyesore, keeping only the retaining walls and camouflaging them with trees. The back walls contain large “picture frames” which, with their stone inlays, help break up the wall. The back door of the house now leads to an oversized entertainment patio and an even larger pool.

Patio Getaway

Designed by Scott Cohen, this charming \"island\" patio is surrounded by a water feature and arched bridges.

Dress It Up With Plants

Whether you have a plaza or a micro-courtyard, consider well-placed colorful container gardens your best decorating tool.
